Description:

Target India is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to join its core Target Tech division at the Bangalore corporate campus. In this cloud-native engineering role, you will design, build, and operate high-performance, fault-tolerant backend services that anchor operations for millions of global retail customers. You will translate complex product requirements into scalable microservices architectures using Java and Spring Boot. The role focuses heavily on end-to-end feature ownership, which involves writing clean code, designing distributed messaging pipelines, streamlining containerized deployments on Kubernetes, and tracking production telemetry to ensure optimal service latency.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent practical experience) along with 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• Deep proficiency in Java combined with solid hands-on experience building RESTful APIs and distributed microservices using the Spring Boot framework.
• Practical knowledge handling relational databases (MySQL/Postgres) and NoSQL stores (Redis/MongoDB) alongside messaging platforms like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Exposure to containerization and orchestration architectures using Docker and Kubernetes, coupled with regular Git usage and automated CI/CD pipelines.
• A strong problem-solving mindset with a proven track record of owning backend features from initial development through to live production monitoring and debugging.
• Exposure to high-scale, low-latency event-driven architectures, familiarity with system observability tools (logging, tracing), and experience leveraging AI-assisted developer utilities (e.g., GitHub Copilot).
